The first day of training

The things I do to get a job!

To re-cap: I was told I had been hired for the position of a car salesperson. This has been revealed to be a half-truth. It seems that I've been selected (with about 20 others) to be given training in sales techniques... and then I will be presented to a car dealership, where I will effectively be interviewed once again!

The trainers imply that the "second" interview is almost just a formality, and that provided I don't do something silly (like telling the dealership that I don't like that brand of car), I should be hired. However, the trainers have given me (and my fellow trainees) instructions on how we are to present ourselves - specifically about our appearance. Most of their instructions were no problem; eg. I usually wear a tie to an interview. However, one instruction really hit home.

I had to shave my goatee off!!

The beard that I (and my wife, and my family, and many of my friends) feel really suits me is history.

Oh, and apparently, I'm supposed to remove my earring for that interview - not that I really care much about that.

All I can say is: I will be re-growing my beard at the first opportunity!

Sheesh Ken,

It sure looks different and quite unlike you! Just do what you have to do. Then when the time is right and you have used them, like they are using you give them the "finger", move on and grow it back!
